Thanksgiving Bromance

When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of turkey, stuffing, candied yams, mashed potato, pumpkin pie and….Planes Trains and Automobiles. John Candy’s best and a departure for director John Hughes, both of whom are no longer alive, it’s an embodiment of the chaos of holiday travels, a desperation to get back home to your loved ones and the loneliness that’s intensified by the holiday season.

Steve Martin is Neal, a marketing guy, the one who’s desperately trying to get home to his loved ones. Through series of mishaps, mostly due to the weather, Neal finds himself stuck having the obnoxious traveling salesman Del (Candy) as his traveling companion. If you haven’t seen it, you can stream it on Netflix. But if you have, either watch it again or relive the bromantic last scene (below) that gives When Harry Met Sally a run for its money.
