Emily Rios, Michelle Farrah Huang, Verton Banks, Nicholas Olbina, and Savannah Schoenecker (Left to Right in Photo) have joined the cast of the LGBTQ+ independent feature The Queerdos, which will be distributed internationally by Italy’s film sales outfit, The Open Reel. The Queerdos marks the feature film debut of writer and executive producer Sandra Grace, alongside award-winning director Jenifer Yeuroukis.
Executive producer Quentin Lee has assembled the cast and key creatives, bringing on their Producers Guild of America (PGA) colleagues Stanley Yung and Alan Chu to produce the feature. He has also partnered with longtime collaborator Cosimo Santoro of Italy’s The Open Reel to handle international film rights sales.
Set in contemporary Los Angeles and written by Sandra Grace, The Queerdos is a female-driven queer comedy centered on a quirky, struggling delivery driver (Schoenecker) who inherits a rundown Hollywood Hills home. Faced with raising $50,000 to keep it, she rents out every room to an eclectic group of queer misfits—all while navigating unexpected romance, viral fame, and the shadow of a past child star legacy.
“As a proud Queerdo, nothing makes me happier than to help tell this beautifully human story, for us and by us, but also for anyone who wants to laugh,” said Emily Rios who will serve as an executive producer and play the romantic lead Ava.
“The Queerdos is a heartfelt and hilarious female-driven queer comedy I’ve been developing with writer and executive producer Sandra Grace since its inception as a comedy pilot script in 2022,” said executive producer Quentin Lee. “I’m thrilled we’ve finally secured the financing to bring this independent feature to life this summer.”
