True crime auteur Chuck Parello’s long-gestating script Sunset Strip Killers has finally been brought to the screen by director Chad Ferrin. The film will have a special one-night screening at Long Beach’s Art Theatre. Buy your tickets now! The film will then receive a worldwide release through Dread, Epic Pictures’ specialty label. Chuck and I first met at the 1997 Berlinale, where we were both trying to sell our debut features at the European Film Market. Nearly three decades later, it’s a real pleasure to sit down with him and talk about his latest passion project—and the long journey that brought it to life.

Even though I grew up in the 80s, Jack Sholder’s 1982 first feature Alone in the Dark slipped past my horror radar, until last night, in the year of The Thing, Creepshow, Amityville Possession, Halloween III, The Entity and Poltergeist which I have all watched and enjoyed as a budding horror fan entering teenhood. I have been curious about the original key art of the 1982 movie, searched for the film and found a screener on Youtube. I believe Alone in the Dark was probably one of Bob Shaye’s first couple of original New Line Cinema productions.
