2025 Canadian Screen Award Winner Josette Jorge Joins Quentin Lee’s The Way You Dance & Executive Producer Jennifer Price Sells Lee’s The Unlucky Starring Ludi Lin at TIFF

As the cameras are set to roll on September 22, 2025, in the greater Vancouver and Langley areas, British Columbia (BC), Canada, THE WAY YOU DANCE welcomes 2025 Canadian Screen Award winner Josette Jorge (RUBY AND THE WELL, LAW & ORDER TORONTO: CRIMINAL INTENT, SAINT-PIERRE) as Gloria Garcia-Campanelli, the high school best friend of main protagonist Twinkle Lee, played by accomplished dancer Kyle Toy. THE WAY YOU DANCE also stars celebrated Hollywood veteran Tzi Ma (KUNG FU, MULAN, THE FAREWELL).

THE WAY YOU DANCE tells the story of a dancer (Toy) returning home to care for his estranged father (Ma) with terminal cancer and finding redemption, healing, and purpose by mentoring a diverse community dance class – including a transgender teen struggling to live authentically.

“When I saw Josette win the Canadian Screen Award on my Facebook feed, I felt compelled to meet her—as a fellow Canadian Screen Award winner myself—and instantly became a fan after we connected. I am thrilled to be collaborating with such a talented rising Asian creative and deeply admire her work as both an actor and writer.” – Quentin Lee, writer-director-producer THE WAY YOU DANCE.

THE WAY YOU DANCE is an independent dance-driven dramedy feature film, written and directed by Quentin Lee, and produced by 2024 Canadian Screen Award winners Cindy Au Yeung and Lee, and their Producers Guild of America colleagues Alan Chu and Kevin Huie through BC-based Margin Films Ltd. The film is executive produced by Jennifer Price and Colette Johnson-Vosberg.

At this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (2025), executive producer Jennifer Price will be pre-selling THE WAY YOU DANCE, along with Lee’s upcoming high-concept horror feature, THE UNLUCKY, with MORTAL KOMBAT II’s Ludi Lin attached as the lead.

“I’m really proud to be representing THE UNLUCKY at this year’s TIFF. With the success of Weapons at the global box office, there isn’t a better time to make a socially impactful horror feature. And to have Ludi Lin attached to the project brings real star power,” said Jennifer Price, executive producer of THE WAY YOU DANCE and THE UNLUCKY.

THE UNLUCKY, inspired by Lee’s own experience as an international student studying in the U.S.  It is about an international Yale graduate student falling for a charismatic young woman who invites him to her family’s home for Thanksgiving, only to realize he’s ensnared in a chilling con that unravels into unimaginable horrors.
