“How can I relax? You just killed my fucking neighbor!” screamed a witness after seeing an ICE agent shoot Renee Good and refuse to allow medics to help her.
On January 7, 2026, in Minneapolis, Renee Nicole Good—an American citizen—was shot multiple times by an ICE agent. While federal authorities claimed that Good attempted to run over federal agents with her car, the city’s mayor stated that the agent acted recklessly and caused her death.
As an American citizen, I feel that the neighbor’s reaction—witnessing someone murdered right outside her home—mirrors what many of us are feeling right now. And if you view America as a corporation, it becomes easy to point to the CEO.
Nevertheless, like the Holocaust, the Second World War, or any other defining historical event, what happened to Renee Nicole Good has, tragically, become a historical necessity. Yet I believe that America’s political and cultural struggle is precisely what makes the nation strong and capable of growth, in contrast to the stability of China’s maintained status quo.
In memoriam, Renee Nicole Good. #ReneeNicoleGood
