George Lucas talks about how he learned filmmaking from Japanese master Akira Kurosawa through watching Kurasawa’s films. Kurosawa is Lucas’ Yoda, really.

The Star Wars franchise is inspired by Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress in terms of the storytelling and its point-of-view. And likewise, Kurosawa was influenced by John Ford.
